At least 150 Ladies are set to take part in The 2019 Nigeria Ladies Open Golf Championship is set to commence Wednesday, with at least 150 participants, at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja.
The three-day championship organised by the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN) will accomodate amateur lady golfers from seven countries and over 100 amateur male golfers.
According to a statement by the Director of Media and Publicity of the Open, Kayode Adeniyi, lady golfers are coming in from host Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Botswana, and Zambia.
“Defending champion Uganda’s Evah Magala who arrived in Abuja since Tuesday last week is not leaving any stone unturned in her quest to retain the trophy.
“This is an indication that the tournament this year will be tougher than last year.”
Speaking on the championship, Dame Julie Okah-Donli, the Chairperson of the championship’s Organising Committee said all hands were on deck for a successful championship.
According to DailyTrust, Golf playing dignitaries including Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State, Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, former Senate President, Senator David Mark and a host of other personalities will perform the ceremonial tee-off.
