AIU Clears Amusan Of Doping Violation

The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has cleared Tobi Amusan of an anti-doping rule violation (ADRV) and lifted the suspension placed on her last month for whereabouts failures. This was made known in a statement issued on Thursday by the World Athletics body which reads, “A panel of the Disciplinary Tribunal, by majority decision, has today found that Tobi Amusan has not committed an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) of 3 whereabouts failures within a 12-month period.”

World Athletics: World Records For Amusan, Others Ratified

The 12.12 seconds world record time set by 100m hurdles semifinals sprinter, Tobi Amusan at the World Athletics 2022 Championships which was held in Oregon, United States has been ratified by the World Athletics. The 25-year-old Nigerian came into the spotlight after setting an African record of 12.40 seconds in the 100m hurdles heat. The following day, she ran 12.12 (0.9m/s) in the semifinals and broke the previous world record of 12.20 seconds which was set in London in 2016 by USA’s Kendra Harrison.

Ese Brume Sets New Commonwealth Games Record

Nigerian long jumper Ese Brume broke the Commonwealth Games record twice on Sunday to win Team Nigeria’s 12th gold medal at the ongoing event in Birmingham. Australia’s Bronwyn Thompson in 2006 set the record at 6.97m in Melbourne before Brume's fourth attempt on Sunday set the record at 6.99m.

LeBron James has become the NBA's all-time points record holder, after surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's total of 38,387, twenty seasons on from his debut. The points came on Tuesday night for the LA Lakers against the Oklahoma City Thunder in a 130-133 defeat where he put up 38. “To be able to be in the presence of a legend and great as Kareem, it means so much to me,” said James. "Everybody that has ever been a part of this run with me the last 20-plus years, I want to say thank you so much because I wouldn't be me without all you. You all helped. Amusan Sets New Record, Wins Commonwealth Gold Medal

Nigerian World champion, Tobi Amusan has defended her title by winning the gold medal in the women's 100m hurdles at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, United Kingdom. Amusan retained her win by running a Games record of 12.30 secs setting another record as well, and becoming the first world champion to win gold and the first Nigerian athlete to do the same at the Alexender Stadium on 7th August 2022.
