Arsenal are close to agreeing a fee in the region of £60m for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with Borussia Dortmund, according to Sky Sports. According to the report, Arsenal had a bid in excess of £50m rejected, with Dortmund's sporting director Michael Zorc saying they would only let the 28-year-old go if their demands were met. It is understood they are holding out for £60m.
Aubameyang was booed by a section of Dortmund fans at the Westfalenstadion during their 2-2 draw with Freiburg on Saturday and a banner in the crowd read: 'No player is bigger than our club'.
The club turned against the prolific striker after he had indicated interest to leave. To demonstrate his resolve, the Gabon International missed a club meeting ahead of a crucial game and was suspended by club manager. The development further compounded his indiscipline record, with club executives expressing readiness to offload the player given the right deal.
The report however failed to disclose whether Olivier Giroud is part of the deal or not.
Arsenal Manager, Arsene Wenger had maintained that Giroud would not be allowed to leave the Emirate unless the club secures the services of another forward. Apart from Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea have also indicated interest in the France International following reluctance by AS Roma to sanction Edin Dzeko's transfer.
