Lionel Messi Set To Join PSG On a Two Year Deal

Lionel Messi, the six-time Ballon d'Or winner has agreed to join the Ligue 1 team, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) after leaving Barcelona FC. Messi was set to extend his contract with Barcelona FC for a new five-year deal, he even agreed to a 50 percent wage cut but the club announced on Thursday that the deal could not be completed due to “financial and structural obstacles”.


Since this announcement by Barcelona FC, rumours have linked the 34-year-old to various top football clubs worldwide including PSG.


According to reports, PSG has offered the football icon a two-year contract with an option to extend the contract until June 2024 and a salary of around £25m per year after taxes.


The Argentinean is set to reunite with former Barcelona FC teammate, Neymar Jnr, with whom he won the Champions League, two La Liga titles, and three Copa del Reys.


Messi’s move to the French side would also see him playing on the same team with football sensation Kylian Mbappe, Argentine teammate, Angel Di Maria, and former Real Madrid FC rival, Sergio Ramos.


Football fans worldwide are keen on witnessing how Messi would fare in a new team and league after 21 years playing for Barcelona FC.
