Falconets, the Nigerian U-20 women’s team maintained a 100% record in the group stage after coming from a goal down to defeat Canada 3 -1 in their last group C tie. The 2014 runners-up will now play The Netherlands in the quarter-finals on Sunday.

In the early hours of Thursday, the Falconet rounded off their group stage campaign in style by defeating Canada 3-1 at the Estadio Alajuela Morera Soto. Kala Novak drew first blood in less than two minutes for the Canadian side, before two spot kicks from Esther Onyenezide and a clinical finish from Chioma Olise gave the girls their perfect group stage record.

Prior to Kala Novak's effort, the falconet had kept two clean sheets against France and Korea Republic.

Head Coach, Chris Musa, noted after the game that " “It was great for us to come back from that setback, and also conceding first in the tournament. We showed character and spirit, and that would be huge for us going forward in the competition.”
