Former Arsenal Manager, Arsene Wenger, has blamed the two Liverpool stars, Mohammed Sallah and Sadio Mane for failing to live up to expectations that cost them a loss of 1-0 to Real Madrid last night. Wenger stated that the duo did not produce the same ‘belief and freshness’ they had during their premier League final that led them to a victory of 3-0 against Wolves. Liverpool last night lost 1-0 against Real Madrid in the Champions League final played in Paris, following Vinicius’ second-half goal.
While speaking to bIN sports correspondence, Wenger opined that both Sallah and Mane disappointed Klopp against the LaLiga Champions.
In his statement, “I wonder after watching that game if the disappointment of last week, being beaten [to the title] in the last game of the season, had somewhere dropped a level of confidence.
“You felt as well that Salah, Mane, the guys who make the difference, didn’t have the same freshness, the same belief that they can make the difference.”
Wenger explained that “Overall, they came short; we must be honest, because of Courtois. I felt at some stage that if Liverpool came back to 1-1, they would come back and win the game.
Meanwhile, he noted that though they never had that chance that they could do the finish-off and be blamed on courteous.
