Former Chelsea football player, Didier Drogba has been inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame. Drogba was inducted on Thursday alongside Paul Scholes, Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany, Peter Schmeichel, and Ian Wright increasing the number of inductees to sixteen.
The six were chosen via public vote and would join Patrick Vieria and Wayne Rooney who were chosen by the Premier League Awards Panel last month.
Drogba said, “It is a real honor for me to have been inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame. My years with Chelsea were so special to me, and I’m incredibly proud of everything we won as a team.
“I played with fantastic players for some amazing managers and against brilliant opponents. I’m so happy to say that I won the Premier League four times and now I’m in the Hall of Fame with some of those great players I played alongside and against, which makes me very proud.”
The Premier League Hall of Fame was launched in 2021 to recognize the best players to have played in the league since its inception in 1992.
Thierry Henry and Alan Shearer were inaugural inductees and soon followed by David Beckham, Eric Cantona, Dennis Bergkamp, Roy Keane, Steven Gerrard, and Frank Lampard to complete the ‘Class of 2021’.
