Everton sacked Rafael Benitez as coach of the football club after just 200 days of being in charge of the Premier League club.

This was disclosed in a statement by the club which stated, “Everton Football Club can confirm the departure of Rafael Benitez as first-team manager.

“Benitez, who joined Everton in June 2021, has left the club with immediate effect. An update on a permanent replacement will be made in due course.”

According to reports, former Everton player, Wayne Rooney, amongst others will be considered for the new role as coach of Everton.

Everton has suffered 9 defeats in their last 13 league matches, culminating in a 2-1 loss on Saturday against the lowly rated Norwich club.

During the match against Norwich, Everton fans chanted for Benitez’s dismissal and displayed a banner reading ‘Benitez get out of our club’ while a supporter invaded the pitch in order to confront the former Real Madrid boss.

Everton is currently 16th on the Premier League table, just 6 points above the relegation zone.
