Cristiano Ronaldo on Sunday came in from the bench to score a sublime goal as Real Madrid walloped Barcelona 3-1 in the first of the Supercopa de Espana at Camp Nou. Celebrating his goal, the reigning FIFA world best player mimicked Messi by holding up his shirt, displaying his Jersey name and number to the admiration of his teeming fans.


Lionel Messi had in April celebrated his winner in April's El Clasico by holding up his shirt at the Santiago Bernabeu.


Ronaldo celebration earned him a yellow card, setting the stage for another card after he was accused of diving in Barcelona half. He was consequently sent off by the referee.


Meanwhile, Real Madrid has indicated plans to appeal the card, a development that could see him feature in the return leg of the game billed to take place on Wednesday at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
