Super Eagle coach, Gernot Rohr, has disclosed that effort is underway with the new Manchester United signing, Odion Ighalo, saying he look to convince the player to come back home to the National team following his recent move to England. Ighalo who announced his retirement from the Super Eagle shortly after the 2019 African Cup of Nation tournament in Egypt, as he was the highest goal scorer with five goals.

Rohr revealed that it is the dream of every coach to have an icon player who is playing for a star club like Manchester United amongst his players, saying with the wealth of experience Ighalo would be useful to the Super Eagle squad.


In his statement; “We are very happy about the new team of Ighalo, Manchester United is a fantastic challenge for him and I spoke already with him and you know he is a very good player on and off the pitch.


Rhor further explained, “If a player is playing in Manchester United, each coach of a national team would like to have him. Our young players could learn a lot on the side of this great goal scoring tactics,”.


According to him, Ighalo has a clean scoring record on the international stage that netted 16 goals in just 35 appearances for Nigeria, having him will not be a misplaced priority.
