The incoming chief executive of the Premier League David Pemsel steps down two months before he was due to take up the role.

David Pemsel faced a series of allegations concerning his private life earlier in the week and as therefore turned down the job offer so as no to stain the image of the Premier League.

In a statement issued by the Premier League on Friday, it reads that the Premier League has accepted David’s resignation and will now resume their hunt for a new CEO. In the meantime, former director of Sales and marketing Richard Masters will continue as interim chief executive.

“Following media disclosures earlier this week and discussions with David Pemsel, the Premier League has today accepted David’s resignation and he will no longer be joining as chief executive.

“Richard Masters will continue as interim chief executive. No further comment will be made at this stage.”

As it stands now the Premier League will either revisit candidates they have previously rejected or cast the net even wider in the search for the right person.
