Juventus CEO, Giuseppe Marotta says the biggest achievement he has recorded so far remains the €105 million sale of French superstar Paul Pogba to Manchester United. Last summer, Paul Pogba concluded a long transfer saga by signing a deal worth £89m to return to his boyhood club, Old Trafford - a world-record transfer fee at the time.
Pogba returned to Manchester United four years after he joined Juventus on a free transfer because he was surplus to requirement. Marotta stated this during an interview with II Giornale. When asked about Juventus transfer deals in recent times, he said;
"You cannot do such a deal every year. Higuain had created an opportunity to leave Naples at an opportune moment in which we decided to make that investment, But you cannot think of doing it every year. That transfer was closed before Paul's move to United was finalized, which was predictable and of course facilitated the Pipita [Higuain] deal."
"Casiraghi signing for Juventus was the sign of progress. Signing Cassano from Real was special; it was pure emotion because it was about recovering a talent. The Pogba deal to Manchester United - the biggest personal achievement," he added.
Marotta's comment may reignite the debate whether Pogba is worth the transfer fee or not.
