Real Madrid Manager, Zinedine Zidane has criticized the five-match ban handed to his star, Cristiano Ronaldo by the Spanish Football authorities (RFEF). He hinted that the club was considering the option of appealing the fine. The Manager made the comment at a press conference ahead of the second leg of the Supercopa de Espana billed to take place on Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabeu.
According to him "I am annoyed, we are annoyed. I do not want to interfere with referees, but when you look at what happened and to think that Cristiano will not play for five games, there is something wrong. Five games it is a lot" he said.
On reports that the club will appeal the ban, Zidane said "I don't know the situation. We will wait until the committee meets tomorrow [Wednesday] and then we will see."
The coach also downplayed reports that the Madrid side had already won the cup, insisting that in football, anything was possible.
"Everything is possible in football when there is a return leg. We will have to play well until the very end because Barcelona had chances in the first leg to win."
Ronaldo was issued a yellow card in the first leg when he pulled his shirt to celebrate his goal. He was awarded the second card for diving and sent away by the referee. While the player would serve a one-match ban for the red card, he has been given additional four-match ban for slightly shoving the referee after being issued a red card.
