Nigerian wrestler, Odunayo Adekuoroye has qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, after reaching the Semi-finals, at the ongoing 2019 Senior World Wrestling Champion in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.
Adekuoroye,25, defeated North Korea's Sun Jong 12-2 in the quarter-finals stage of the 57kg category on Wednesday, via technical superiority, earning the Tokyo 2020 Olympic ticket.
However, the World Number 3 later lost 6-1 at the semi-final stage to wrestling champion Risako Kawai of Japan, a two-time World, and Olympic champion.
Adekuoroye is set to compete for a bronze medal today. Also, other Nigerians scheduled to compete at the Championship include Blessing Onyebuchi (76kg), Emmanuel Ogbonna (74kg), Blessing Oborududu (68kg), and Aminat Adeniyi (62kg).
