Nigeria Tops Africa Cup Track Cycling with 21 Gold Medals

Nigeria’s cycling team on Sunday 28th July 2019 topped the overall medal chart, with 21 gold, 17 silver and 12 bronze medals at the finale of the first edition of the Africa Cup Track Cycling tournament at the Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

 

The Africa Cup Track Cycling tournament which held between 26 and 28 July 2019 was organised by the Cycling Federation of Nigeria (CFN) with nine participating African countries.

Egypt won a total of 4 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze medals, followed by Morocco with 4 gold and 3 silver medals. Also, Burundi and Ghana both won two bronze medals.

The tournament comprised of cycling, Men and Women Junior individual pursuit, Men and Women Elite individual pursuit, Men and Women Junior Sprint, Men and Women Elite Team Sprint, Men and Women Junior point race, and Men and Women Elite Point race.
