Two members of the 2015 AfroBasket-winning squad Alade Aminu and Olaseni Lawal have returned to D’Tigers ahead of this month’s 2019 FIBA World Cup qualifiers in Lagos. Both players, who last featured for D’Tigers at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, were recalled by coach Alex Nwora for the games against Mali, Rwanda and Uganda, which hold at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos from June 29.

However, Aminu’s brother Al-Farouq Aminu has yet to return to the team after last featuring in the team’s African triumph in Tunisia in 2015.

According to a statement from the Nigeria Basketball Federation on Sunday, the duo will join team captain Ike Diogu (Sichun Blue Whales, China), Ben Uzoh (CB Caballero De Culican, Mexico), Bryant Mbamalu (CD Vildivia, Chile), Talib Zanna (Ironi Nes-Zion’s, Italy), Obinna Emenago (Rouen Basket, France) and Mike Efevberha (Beirut Club, Lebanon) for the crucial third window of the qualifiers.

Nine other new faces have also been called up for the qualifiers.
