President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday held a closed door meeting with the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, after he returned from Logos where he attended the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) conference. Recall that the President fully resumed duty today after transmitting a letter to the National Assembly as required by law. The meeting took place after the President addressed the nation in the morning, having been fully briefed by the then Acting President.


A credible source in the Presidency told Vigil360 that the "President and the Vice President held a crucial meeting to review recent developments in the country" The source added that the duo agreed to reshuffle the Federal Executive Council on Wednesday. He explained that they both considered inputs made by the 'kitchen cabinet' although certain gray areas were left for the President to use his discretion.


According to him, "actually the President held a very crucial meeting with Osinbajo today. They both agreed that the FEC should be reshuffled and the list presented was considered. To be frank with you, the Vice President had issues with some of the recommendations and President assured that he would consider the concerns he raised."


"Barring any unforeseen circumstance, the President will Chair the FEC meeting on Wednesday and the council could be dissolved. Only few Ministers are expected to retain their positions from what I gathered. But I must tell you that critical figures are working to ensure that their candidates are not thrown out"


The source also said though Nigerians were waiting for the President to make his position known on the investigation report on the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and the Director of National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Buhari was reluctant to take a definite position on the matter despite persuasion from Osinbajo.


The source concluded that the President and the Vice would meet on Tuesday to harmonize various positions. He said if both parties agree then Wednesday will be full of activities.


Meanwhile, reports indicate that some Ministers are already packing their personal belongings out of their offices preparatory for the rumored change. The Ministers claimed that "the President was unpredictable as anything could happen on Wednesday".
