The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has in accordance with the instruction of the Supreme Court presented the certificate of return to PDP's governor-elect for Bayelsa state DouyeDiri. Governor Diri's deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo was also presented his certificate of return.
INEC during a briefing at the commission's headquarters in Abuja pronounced Senator Diri winner of the November 16 Bayelsagovernorship election and he was thereby returned the electedgovernor of Bayelsa state.
INEC Chairman, MahmoodYakubuwhile speaking tothe press said Diri was declared the winner after top officials met on Friday morning to review the results of the election, minus those of the APC which have been voided by the court.
