The Ohanaze Ndigbo, a Socio Cultural group of Igbo people has on Monday called on the Imo state indigenes to accept in good faith the Supreme court verdict that upturned the Governorship election of Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and uphold that of Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Ohanaze said upturning of the Ihedioha’s victory by the apex court was not the first of its kind and will not be the last, recalling that many governors in the past have suffered a similar experience without any form of protest.
The Punch reported that, Uche Okwuokwu, the Secretary General of the Ngibo Socio-cultural group made this call during interview with newsmen.
He opined that it is in the interest of Ndigbos to accept the Court verdict in good faith, saying this is not the first time the Supreme Court has sacked a sitting governor, Dr Chris Ngige was once sacked by the Supreme Court, and haven did not fall, subsequently, Omeha was sacked and there was no protest.
He further stated, the apex Court sacked Osumbo in Edo state, there was no protest; the Court sacked Andy Uba which ushered in Peter Obi, there was no protest so also Court sacked governors of Ekiti, Ondo, Osun and there was no protest; saying Court has sacked many governors across the country, why should that of Imo state be different.
Mr Okwukwu urged the protesters to sheath their swords and accept the Supreme Court verdict against Ihedioha and give peace a chance.
