Following the unabated crisis that is threatening to shred the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP apart, it was learned that Governor Nyesom Wike's group has pulled out of Atiku’s campaign team for the 2023 presidential election. The development came up this morning in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers state where Wike is the landlord. It was revealed that the River state members of the Atiku campaign train have decided to call it a quit until the Governor and Atiku iron out their differences. According to the team, they will have nothing to do with the campaign as long as Wike has refused to endorse Atiku publicly for the 2023 general election for the PDP.

In a communiqué issued in Port Harcourt this morning by the Wike’s team leader, Olabode George, after a meeting convened at the Governors Home town, it was unanimously concluded that until the national chairman of the PDP, Iyorcha Ayu resigns his position for the southern candidate; they will not be a party to Atiku’s campaign team.

Others who were present at the meeting include; Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, former Governors of Ondo, Olusegun Mimiko, Bode George, Donald Duke of Cross River, Jonah Jang of Plateau, Ayo Fayose of Ekiti States, Prof Jerry Gana, among others.

It was learned that the meeting was conducted through the night of yesterday until the wee hour of this morning.

Recall, Wike had joined forces with Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state and his likes who insisted that until the PDP National chairman resigned his position, no meaningful talk will hold in the party.

The crisis started shortly after governor Wike lost out in the Presidential primaries that were held in Abuja in May 2022 and returned Atiku as the party flag bearer.
