2023 President: APC Postpone Screening Of Aspirants

The All Progressive Congress (APC) party has postponed its earlier scheduled screening of its presidential aspirants that was slated for today Monday, April 2022. The APC National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Felix Morka made this known yesterday in Abuja, saying his party regrets announcing the postponement of its earlier scheduled primary election but promised to get back as soon as the next date is scheduled. Vigil360 earlier reported that no fewer than 25 aspirants have indicated interest to vie for the number one seat on the platform of the ruling party.


Those gathered by our correspondence to have purchased the form include, the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Biola Tinibu, the sitting vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, Minister of transport, Rotimi Amechi shall all appear before the screening committee for the screening. 

Other aspirants are; Former Imo state governor, Sen. Rochas Okorocha and former Ogun governor, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun, Pastor Tunde Bakare, Cross River governor, Minister of Niger Delta Development, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, and former Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, Prof. Ben Ayade and the Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi. 

Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi and Jigawa Governor, Mohammed Abubakar is also in the race, Chairman, Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) and Ekiti Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, former Senate President Sen. Ken Nnamani, are all contesting. 

Others are the President of the Senate, Dr. Ahmad Lawan, former Zamfara Governor, Sen. Ahmed Yerima, the only APC female aspirant, Mrs. Uju Kennedy-Ohnenye, and Pastor Nicholas Nwagbo and a former Speaker of House of Representatives, Mr. Dimeji Bankole. 

Although there have been speculations that the ruling party may opt for a consensus candidate going by the track of how the party conducted its congress last month. 

Our source who chose to speak on condition of anonymity disclosed that the APC is trading with caution at this injury time to avoid hurting its members which will threaten the party. 

Meanwhile, the stage has been set for all the above-party bigwigs to face the screening committee.
