Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has said the endorsement of former Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, for the position of National Chairman by President Muhammadu Buhari’s would not prevent other interested party members from vying for the position.

Abdullahi stated this on Wednesday in Abuja while addressing newsmen at the end of a closed-door meeting between the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) and Governors elected on its platform.

While insisting that the race was still open, Abdullahi said the meeting was to obtain the commitment of the governors towards the conduct of a free, fair, credible and peaceful convention that would be acceptable to all.

He further said the earlier dates released for the congresses and Convention may change. Recall that the party had said the exercise at the various levels would commence on May 2 and end on May 14.

“We felt that such commitment was necessary because some of the party´s governors are already giving the impression that congresses will not be held in some states.

“We have agreed that the NWC will go back and take a second look at the timetable and see the possibility for adjustments, because there are other issues.

“The timetable may be reviewed because it coincides with Muslim’s month of fasting; we must be sensitive to the feelings of Muslims who will be fasting in the month of Ramadan. We shall try to avoid conducting any political activities in that period,” he added
