Contrary to expectation, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Edo state chapter has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for declaring the extension of Chief John Oyegun's tenure by the National Executive Committee as illegal. Recall that the President in his speech at the NEC meeting held on Tuesday at the party's National Secretariat, Abuja called for the cancellation of the tenure extension approved by NEC last month.
Speaking on the matter, the Edo State Chairman of the party, Anselm Ojezua “while there had been speculation over the plan to extend the tenure of elected national and state officials of the party, such a decision would be illegal as it was not backed by the party’s constitution.
“What the President said is justified; that is democracy at work.”
