Yesterday, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held its non-elective National Convention at the Eagles Square, Abuja. The convention was coming weeks after the Supreme Court settled the party's protracted leadership tussle between Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff and the Sen. Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee in favour of the later.
Expectedly, the sacked National Chairman of the Party, Sen. Sheriff was absent at the Convention.
When queried on the absent of Sheriff, the Secretary of the National Convention Planning Committee, Biodun Olajumi told newsmen that the Committee invited all members of the party to the convention stressing that Sheriff's absence should not be treated as a special case. He explained that since Sheriff is still a member of the party, he was invited. He however failed to state if the Committee specifically invited the sacked chairman or not.
Recently, the party inaugurated some Committees including the disciplinary committee. It is however yet to be seen if the Sheriff faction would be dragged before the Disciplinary Committee over its role in the leadership crisis that rocked the party.
