The President on Thursday denied media reports that the President, Muhammadu Buhari has promised to tender his resignation if he does not recover fully from an undisclosed illness. The Personal Assistant to the President, Bashir Ahmed who made the clarification on Thursday via his Twitter handle urged Nigerians to discountenance the report of purported planned resignation as there was nothing like that.

He assured that the President will return to Nigeria as soon as his doctors certify him fit.

"The report is NOT true, Pres. Buhari is doing better and he will return to the country the day his doctors give him a go-ahead"

Recall that on Wednesday, several media outfits (Vigil360 not included) reported that the President was not keen on holding on to power and would tender his resignation if he failed to recover fully. The report claimed that the President had intended to forward his resignation to the National Assembly before departing the country but was advised against the move by an unnamed Retired Army General from Taraba state.
