Governor Mohammed Badaru of Jigawa state has expressed readiness to accept more decampee’s into the All Progressive Congress (APC) fold as the opposition, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP fight dirty over supremacy.
Accordingly, the PDP in Jigawa state has been engulfed in supremacy tussle as members loyal to Former Governor Sule Lamido and his rival, Aminu Ibrahim Ringim, a former gubernatorial aspirant in the state have failed to reconcile who shall lead the party.
Their disagreement started shortly after the 2019 General election where Ringim Accused the Lamido camp of anti-party activities that scuttled the party relevance in the state.
Consequently, the face-off between the two bigwigs leads to the formulation of a parallel government in the party which leads to a parallel ward congress which was eventually canceled by the PDP’s national Headquarters and constituted a caretaker committee in the interim.
To her advantage, the APC in the state has exploited the loophole to woo aggrieved PDP members into its fold; the action the governor is bulldozing to cripple the opposition in the state.
Governor Badaru said the APC door is always open for those who could not be accepted in the opposition promising to accord them equal treatment in the ruling party.
The development has to lead to a continuous decamping of PDP bigwig members in the state to the ruling APC hoping to be accommodated.
Notable chieftains of the PDP who decamped include; Ali Sa’adu, former Deputy Governor under Sule Lamido, Ahmad Mahmud, and his Secretary to the State Government, Lawan Abdu.
Accordingly, House of Reps Members and Senators were not left behind such as Sen. Ibrahim Dudu, Sen. Bello Maitama, Sen. Muhammadu Alkali, Sen Sabo Muhammad Nakudu, Hon Bashir Adamu Jumbo, Hon, Tijani Gaya, and Hon Shitu Galambi.
Commissioners in the government of former Governor Sule Lamido also joined the decamping bandwagon who include: Barrister Yakubu Ruba, a former Commissioner of Justice, former Commissioner of Water Resources, Alhaji Abdulqadir Jinjiri Dutse and former Commissioner of Women Affairs, Hajiya Fatima wedi Jalo, former Commissioner of Works, Baba Aliyu Santali and two Commissioners of Agriculture, Hon Nasidi Ali and Mutari Birniwa.
Meanwhile, governor Badaru promised decampees that the APC party would accord them equal rights in the APC and is ready to accommodate more decampees.
His statement, “We will do justice to anyone who has joined our party or interested in joining,”.
