The Nigerian Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has yesterday while speaking at the Nigerian Bar Association conference said, Nigerian Pastors who are not comfortable with the bill signed by President Buhari on Company and Allied Matter Acts (CAMA) 2020 should approach the national Assembly. Osinbajo said we have a process through which issues of this nature are addressed. His statement, “Whatever the proposal for amendment may be, whatever the view of the leadership of the church may be, regarding the question of how the trustees, whether they are interim trustees or not, can be put into a proposal that will be brought to the National Assembly for consideration for an amendment to the law, that is the process which is entirely opened and ought to be pursued.
He explains, “We are in a democracy and there is a process by which things can be done and that process is the one where you bring forward amendments to the National Assembly and they will do whatever is considered useful in the circumstance.”
The Vice President revealed that President Buhari's administration would not leave any stone unturned or sweep any matter of National importance into the trash bin, he will face the Southern Kaduna crises head-on.
He highlighted these problems include: fixing the economy, ensuring that those who spread mischief in the land are not speared through ensuring justice for all and making sure the impunity is brought to its barest minimum.
Meanwhile, he urged those with genuine grievances concerning the recently signed CAMA bill to approach the National Assembly for possible Amendments since we are in a democracy. In his statement, “There have been judicial commissions and all sorts, but the problem remains.
“So, there is a need to address the underlying issues.
“You can’t sweep under the carpet, justice, and the cries of economic marginalization.
“The fact is that we must prosecute persons responsible for these murders or otherwise, impunity will worsen.
“And also support those who have lost their breadwinners.
“The mindless callous killings in Southern Kaduna are heartbreaking.
“And again, we must condole those who have lost loved ones and those injured or who have suffered the loss of property.
“These tragedies are unacceptable and they are avoidable.”
While answering questions on what the government is doing about the insecurity in the southern Kaduna, he said presently, the government had done and is currently dealing with the problem to ensure the insecurity is addressed.
He said this was tacked by deploying security base and Air force surveillance to the arena. He revealed that about 500 conventional Mobile Policemen are currently in Zangon-Kataf and Kaura Local Government, a combined troop of both Army and Navy are already on the ground.
He added that President Buhari has had several Security Council meetings and had delegated the Vive president to attend such meetings with possible ways to resolve the crises.
Meanwhile, he revealed he is optimistic the problem would be laid to rest soon saying some of the moves concerning the peace meeting was successful especially these involving the Zangon-Kataf and the Fulani community.
