The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadiq Baba Abubakar, has reiterated that the Nigerian Air Force remains loyal to the nation and democratic system currently practiced in the country. The statement followed reports by the Chief of Army Staff that some disgruntled politicians were covertly approaching some military personnel to illegally effect a change in government.
The Chief of Air Staff made the disclosure on Thursday, in Abuja while commissioning two blocks of flats at Bill Clinton Drive, NAF Base, Abuja. Air Marshal Sadiq hinted that the apartment would be used by both transit and married officers of the Force. He added that the gesture was to further demonstrate the commitment of the Force to the welfare of officers and urged the Officers to be diligent and more dedicated in the discharge of the duties at all times.
The blocks were named after two of its officers, Fg Offr A J Layelmenson and Sqn. Ldr B B Ado, who died in active service in Mali. According to him “the young officers protected our national interests, hence the need to immortalize them. We are remembering these fallen heroes by naming the blocks of flats after them,”
