The newly appointed Chief of Staff to President Buhari, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari has today while attending to newsmen said his allegiance would be to President Buhari and he is ready to serve him to the best of his ability.
Gambari was formally announced today during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha at the council chamber of the statehouse, Abuja.
His first engagement was the attendance of the FEC meeting he partook which was chaired by the President himself at the council chamber.
The meeting was also the first of its kind as the meeting was held on virtual platform occasioned by the coronavirus and to observe the protocol of the social distancing.
While attending to State House correspondents, the former Minister turned Chief of Staff said his allegiance would be total to President Buhari as he has found him fit for the assignment.
In his statement, ‘I want to thank the President and the Federal Republic for giving me this opportunity to serve him and the country.”
When the press asked him what Nigerian should expect from him with this wealth of experience, Gambari replied, ‘I have not started, so I will find out and maybe... I don’t report directly to the nation, but to the President.”
Answering those who throw a question at him on what Mr President would expect from him, he said, “I think he needs my loyalty, competence and support, as well as to serve him to the best of my ability.”
The diplomat emerged the Chief of Staff after Mallam Abba Kyari died of the coronavirus last month.
Mallam Abba Kyari was tested positive of coronavirus after he visited Germany for an official engagement but unfortunately gave up over the virus complication while receiving treatment in Lagos Hospital.
