The ongoing crisis agitating the Lagos State House of Assembly took an ugly turn on Tuesday, with the suspended and sacked principal officers, locked out of their offices in the assembly complex. It was learnt that the Chief Whip, Rotimi Abiru (Somolu II), and the Deputy Majority Leader, Olumuyiwa Jimoh (Apapa II) were ejected on Monday, March, 9, while two others Moshood Osun (Lagos Mainland II) and Adewale Raheem (Ibeju/Lekki Constituency II) were suspended indefinitely for gross misconduct and insubordination.
The Chief Whip was replaced by Mojisola Miranda, member representing Apapa Constituency 1, while Noheem Adams, member representing Eti-Osa constituency 1 was made the new Deputy Majority Leader. It was gathered that among the issues in contention was a disagreement between a current senator, Sikiru Osinowo, aka Pepper, and the Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa.
The affected lawmakers are said to be loyalists of Osinowo, who was a former member of the Assembly before his election to the National Assembly A source told newsmen that the Assembly was put in disrepute following a report on the alleged expenditure of N2.4bn spent on the purchase of 80 vehicles for the 40 lawmakers in the last 11 months.
