Enraged youths of Mmahu community in Ohaji/Egbema LGA of Imo state hurled stones and bottles, at the convoy of Governor Hope Uzodinma while chanting in the Igbo language "Onye Oshi vote, Onye Oshi vote" meaning stolen votes. The violent outrage by the infuriated youths led to the destruction of the rear windshield of the governor's official vehicle.

The governor, however, was whisked to safety unhurt by his security details. The attack occurred during the governor's visit to the area to pay a condolence visit to families of some victims who lost their lives during a truck crash belonging to an oil firm operating in the area. The deaths caused by the accident had irritated the community youths, causing their leaders to reach out to the governor to visit the community to call the oil firm to order.

This happened just hours after report that Chief Emeka Ihedioha, the 2019 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state had made compelling statement in reaction to the Supreme Court's refusal to review the January 14 judgment which sacked him as the governor of Imo State and declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Hope Uzodinma, as the duly elected governor of the state. Chief Ihedioha, stressed that he was firmly resolved never to give up on the matter.
