The United Progressive Party (UPP) which is one of the 74 political parties recently deregistered bt the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially announced its merger with the All Progressive Congress (APC).  This disclosure was contained in a statement made by the national chairman of the defunct part, Chief Chekwas Okorie at the end of its National Executive Committee (NEC) with Board of Trustees (BOT) and stakeholders. Okorie informed that the merger resolution was reached after APC stakeholders assured the party that its members will be warmly welcomed and giving equal opportunity with bona fide members of the ruling party.

Okorie while tracing the relationship of the defunct party with the APC noted that the NEC of the UPP unconditionally adopted and supported the second term bid of President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 elections. He, therefore, directed UPP members at all levels to proceed to register as members of the APC at their var5ious wards of origin or wards where they are resident.
