Members of the Imo state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) having a decline in hope for their call on the Supreme Court to revisit judgment that upturn the victory of former Governor Emeka Ihedioha, the party has called its members for a one-week prayer and fasting for divine intervention to return Ihedioha back to government house.
The call for fasting was announced by the party secretary, Ray Emeana, saying that the session would commence today Sunday, 09th February 2020.
The statement reads, “The Imo state Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, hereby declares one-week prayer and fasting from Sunday 9th to Sunday 16 of February 2020.
The party Secretary added that during the fasting period, all ward excos should request for mass in their local churches and assemble at the LGA party secretariat daily by noon for prayers and breaking of fasting.
Meanwhile, the prayer points are; asking God to intervene and restore the victory of Emeka Ihedioha, the upturned governor back to the government house.
According to the party, “The Imo state PDP, while urging Imolites to join in the prayers wishes to use this medium to place on record her appreciation to Imo citizens for their continued support and steadfastness.”
While Reacting, Imo state Governor Hope Uzodinma, through his Chief Press Secretary, Oguwike Nwachukwu, said that the PDP, has asked the poor people to pray and fast and they will be somewhere drinking champagne and enjoying themselves.
Nwachuku added that the party leaders must ensure they are actually fasting but not by telling the poor to fast while the leaders will be enjoying champagne.
He called on Imo people to not allow themselves to be hoodwinked and be deceived again as the people government is in place, urging the followers to ensure all of them are fasting including the PDP leaders not only the masses.
