The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has declared the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), for Kagarko constituency of Kaduna state, Hon. Nuhu Goroh Shadalafiya winner of the just re-run elections held in Kaduna yesterday. Shadalafiya, a former Deputy Speaker of the Kaduna state Assembly scored a total of 24,658 votes after the result were merged with the INEC already saved result to defeat his opposition,

Hon. Morondia Tanko of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who pulled 20.206 votes.


Dr Haruna Aminu, the Local Government collation officer said Shadalafiya won the election having satisfied the requirement and have polled the highest votes is hereby declared winner of the election and returned elected.


Daily Post reported that the Court of Appeal had ordered for the rerun in 22 units of the three wards in Kagarko constituency when Mr Nuhu Shadalafiya of APC kicked against the outcome of the election where Mr, Morondia Tanko of the PDP won in the 9th March election.


Consequently, the Appeal court sitting in Kaduna on 19th November 2019 affirmed the judgement of the petition Tribunal and dismissed the appeal of the PDP Hon. Morondia Tanko who took the matter to the Appeal court.

 

Some interviewed persons after the election applauded the INEC and the security agencies over the peaceful conduct of the election.


At the P.O Sawanno polling unit, Mr Oyebanji Oyewale Samson who was the presiding officer of the polling unit revealed that all sensitive materials made it to the polling unit at exactly 10:00 am and shortly the exercise commence.
