The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has alleged that, Adams Oshoimhole, the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC)  has seized to be a member of the party.

Mr. Obaseki claimed that President Buhari has directed the state APC to deal with the Pro-Oshiomhole Edo Progressive Movement (EPM) and Oshiomhole himself for his anti-party activities.

Punch reported that the Governor stated these at an APC rally at Owan East and West Local Government Areas in Sabogida-Ora on Thursday.

Accordingly, all effort geared towards resolving the feud in the APC especially with the faction loyal to Obaseki and that loyal to Oshiomhole have hit the brick wall.

Obaseki had kicked against the peace committee set up by the APC National Working Committee (NWC) last November on the ground that the peace committee to be led by, Governor Ganduje of Kano state was a brain-child of Oshiomhole-led NWC.

Subsequently, another committee set up in November 18, to be headed by the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan was also rejected by Governor Obaseki as he accused the crises in Edo APC on the National Assembly from the first place.

Mr Cruise Osagie, the Special Adviser to the Governor while speaking with the punch on Monday said, it does not conform with the natural justice to have a party to the crises also acting as a committee member in resolving the crises.

Osagie said in his statement, “The National Assembly is in court as we speak with the House of Assembly in Edo State over the plan to come and take over the operations of the state House of Assembly and then the leaders of the same National Assembly that had wanted to take over the House of Assembly are now the head of the reconciliation committee. Senator Ahmed Lawan, the Senate President, with all due respect, and other leaders of the National Assembly are hell-bent on taking over the Edo House of Assembly.”

On Thursday, the governor reiterated that the APC in Edo was united, strong and formidable, stressing that members of the EPM were not members of the party.

Obaseki disclosed that those who claimed to be members of the EPM cannot be members of the APC including their national Chairman (referring to Oshiomhole) whom we have already suspended in our great party in Edo state.

He added that those who were mistakenly elected into the state Assembly on the platform of EPM have been discarded and the INEC is aware of that and will soon conduct election to fill in their gap.

Obaseki vowed to purge out all those that have involved themselves in the anti-party activities as directed by President Buhari and reorganise the party.
