The Speaker, Taraba State House of Assembly, Peter Abel Diah has on Sunday resigned after series of political issues. He confirmed his resignation while addressing journalists on Sunday in Jalingo, saying his resignation was based on personal reasons.

Diah who represents Mbanga constituency has not been in good terms with Governor Darius Ishiaku, following the removal of the Deputy Speaker, Mohammed Gwampo.

He is the longest-serving legislator, serving his fifth time in the house.  He had 13 members in his camp against the 11 members supporting the Governor.

However, members of the State's House of Assembly have on Monday elected Joseph Kunini as the new speaker and Haman Adama as the new Deputy Speaker.

Also, Douglas Ndatse was elected as Majority leader.
