The Senate has today postponed its earlier scheduled passage of a budget that was slated for today for next week Tuesday. According to the Senate schedules, the report for the passage of the year 2020 budget was formally slated for today 26th November 2019 for final consideration and subsequent passage in the next two days.
However, Senator Barau Jibrin (APC, Kano) the chairman senate committee on appropriation has requested that he and his team be given a grace of additional one week to tidy up their work and bring forth a clean copy to the house. He disclosed that the stage they are right now they are almost done with the major work in terms of process and arrangement, however, cross-checking and printing is what is yet to be completed, saying his team will require one more week to tidy up its work.
Subsequently, they will go ahead to give the house a clean copy of the report. Urging the lawmakers to give his team additional one week as his group had planned giving a detailed report by Tuesday next week. Meanwhile, in his response, the senate president, Senator Ahmed Lawan Okayed their request for the additional one week so that the report is presented before the lawmakers.
