Zamfara Insecurity: Yari Should Tell Nigerians Where He Kept 1000 AK47 He Procured – Mutawale

Bothered by the proliferation of firearms among bandits marauding communities in Zamfara state, the Governor of the state said that he was considering an option of instructing securities outfits in the state to invite former Governor Abdulaziz Yari to explain to securities the whereabouts of about 1000Ak47, he the former governor allegedly procured with the state fund in 2013.

The statement was disclosed by, Mr Yusuf Idris Gusau, the Chief press secretary to the Zamfara state governor during a press briefing held at the press centre Gusau,  Zamfara state.

 

Yusuf explained that governor Mutawalle noted with regret that the recent attack, like in the past were been perpetrated by the outlawed Yansakai group suspected to be sponsored by a certain highly placed individual in the state.

 

According to the press secretary, they have it on record that the crises which have been rocking the state since 2013 have direct bearing with when governor Yari procured about 1000Ak47 assault firearms and was issued to the outlawed group, “Yansakai”.

 

He added, the governor recalled that the arms deal was signed a day after the unfortunate incident of Yar’galadima village where over 200 people were consumed in a massacred by the armed bandit.

 

The Governor of Zamfara accused his predecessor despite being aware of the implication of an illegal possession of firearms by non-state actors still went ahead and recruited about 8,500 of Yansakai whom have to present today denied  Zamfara people there freedom through banditry.

 

From the foregoing, the governor from all conviction said he is comfortable to accuse former governor Yari of having a direct connection with the banditry terrorizing the state, therefore, Yari has some explanation to tell the security agency on the whereabouts of the said weapons.

 

Consequently, the governor issued a stern warning that anybody found wanting in connection with the banditry will not be spared no matter his status in the state, the law will deal with such person.
