The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Tuesday called for the immediate establishment of the Electoral Offences Tribunal as part of its measures to stem election malpractices and deepen democracy in the country.

According to Dailytrust, the Chairman of the commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, made the call on Tuesday in Abuja at a meeting of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES).

His call is coming after the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Mohammed Adamu, represented by the DIG Operations, Abdulmajid Ali, said the Police made 58 high profile arrests during the just concluded 2019 general elections.
