The Bauchi state Governor, Bala Mohammed, has expressed his state’s readiness to host the Ruga farm settlement for herdsmen.

According to Dailypost, Mohammed stated this while speaking with State House correspondents in Abuja on Monday.

The President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal government had earlier disclosed through the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development that it was working towards establishing Ruga settlements for herdsmen in 12 pilot states nationwide.

Mohammadu Umar, the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, made this known in Abuja while speaking to newsmen about the policy.

Meanwhile, the policy is still generating mixed reactions from some states especially in the South-South and South-East. The South-East Governors in a meeting held last weekend rejected the policy, stressing that it would not make land available for the establishment of the settlement in the region.
