President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday 10th June 2019 marched his words with action by signing into the law the Public Holiday (Amendment) Bill. The disclosure was made by the President's aide, and Senior Special Assistant, National Assembly Liaison, Senator Ita Enang. The new law accommodates June 12th as a public holiday in Nigeria, replacing May 29th. It gathered that May 29th will only be marked as a handover/inauguration of new governments in the country.

The signing came just days to June 12th, giving legal backing to the day.

Recall that the National Assembly had recently passed the amendment bill.
