According to the Senate Majority Leader, Ahmed Lawan, the All Progressives Congress (APC) will be in trouble if President Muhammadu Buhari (PMB) leaves the party in 2013,
Lawan also dismissed insinuations in some quarters that the Senate will become a rubber-stamp body to Buhari's hand if he emerges the President of the 9th Assembly.

The disclosure was made on Tuesday, 16th April 2019 by the lawmaker while hosting the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC)Youths Forum.

More so, Lawan who is a front runner in the race for the Presidency of the 9th Senate, observed the adversarial relationship between the 8th Senate and the Executive arm has denied Nigerians of the needed development and progress in the last three and half years.

According to Lawan, his campaign is based on a slogan of leading a Senate and National Assembly that will work for Nigeria. He added that the Senate under him will not be going for the Senate presidency because of the name but to make a serious and positive difference in the governance of the country.

Additionally, he affirmed his commitment to work with Mr. President and his Administration to fulfill all his campaign promises that he promised Nigerians in 2015 and 2019, respectively.

To Lawan, 2023 will be a litmus test period for the APC. That is when the party will know whether it is solid enough or not without Buhari at the center of affairs. He opined that currently, APC is largely revolving around President Muhammadu Buhari (PMB) and that he envisaged trouble in the party once you take away, the President.
