Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara state on Thursday backed the call on President Buhari to declare a state of emergency on the state. Mr, Yari issued the statement while addressing journalist in Gusau, the state capital, according to News Agency of Nigeria.
The governor has been in Saudi Arabia for a lesser Hajj in the last couple of days when another terror was unleashed on his people killing scores of them, the problem which prompted some group to call on President Buhari to declared state of emergency on Zamfara state.
The killing which pushed hundreds of youth in Tsafe town, Tsafe Local Govt Area to stage a wild protest calling on president Buhari to declare a state of emergency on the state. The police confirmed they have arrested twenty three youth whom participated in the protest.
The Governor in his statement, “I am also in support of the declaration of state of emergency if it will save the lives of people of the state,”
Mr, Yari frowned at politicians whom are keen on politicizing the security situation in the state.
According to the governor, it is about the lives of his people and the need to come together to face the common enemy and end the crises. He added if the provision of his office has allowed him to carry arm, he would have done so for his people to be safe.
However if he is not around, he believed there are capable hands that will collaborate with security operatives that can do the needful, the governor added.
He noted, although the security are doing their best, “But, it is sad to know that some of the people involved in the kidnappings are close relatives or associates of the victims, which is part of the reasons the problem is persisting.
Mr, Yari opined all hands must be on deck to expose any individual or group that are part of these bandits to bring them to justice, meanwhile praying to the almighty to seek divine intervention.
