Gombe State Senator Dumps PDP for APC

Senator Joshua Lidani of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), representing Gombe South Senatorial District, has jumped ship to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).


Mr. Lidani's defection was announced on the floor of the house on Wednesday by the Senate majority leader, Ahmed Lawan.

"Let me inform this Senate that very distinguished Senator Joshua Lidani, representing Gombe South, is defecting from the PDP to the APC. Congratulations," Lawan said.

Mr. Lidani 64, is one of the latest of many lawmakers to defect from one party to another, however, no specific reason was given for his defection.

Senator Lidani, a former lawyer and past deputy governor of Gombe State was elected Senator under the platform of the PDP in the 2015 elections.

He nonetheless lost his reelection bid to the house of representative member, Binta Bello.
