The Federal Government has reacted to the barrage of attacks by some of the named treasury looters and has gone further to name 23 others, most of them members of the Peoples Democratic Party.

In a press statement, Minister of Information and Culture, ALhaji Lai Mohammed said the list of alleged looters which Government released on Friday was based on verifiable facts, including the amount involved, the date the amount in question was collected and from where it was taken.

Mohammed, also said those complaining that the list was too short apparently did not understand that it was strategically released as a teaser.

Kayode Fayemi Seeks Re-Election Bid For Ekiti State Governorship Election

Ex-Governor of Ekiti and current Minister of Solid Minerals Mr Kayode Fayemi, who suffered defeat in the 2014 governorship election in Ekiti state, wants to have a go at it again as he is to contest for the position again on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Fayemi on Sunday made his ambition known at a news conference at his Isan-Ekiti country home in Oye Local Government Area of the state, where he hosted leaders and scores of members of the party from all the 16 Local Government Areas and the 177 Wards of the state.

While speaking on his intention to contest the July 14 gubernatorial election, he said he was driven by his past records of positive achievements, especially for workers, retirees and pensioners while in office in the state.

Following the death of the Younger brother to the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Clement Ogbeh, President Muahammdu Buhari has commiserated with Audu Ogbeh and the entire family. The President's condolence message was contained in a statement issued on Friday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu. The President in the statement prayed that God will comfort the family and grant the decease eternal rest.

The Deputy National Chairman South, of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Engr. Segun Oni has resigned his position.

Oni, a former governor of the Ekiti state has formally declared his intention to vie for the governorship ticket of the All Progressive Party, APC.

The Federal Government of Nigeria on Friday listed National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Seconduns among some members of his party to be among those who alleged looted the national treasury when the party was in power.

Speaking at a media briefing in Lagos, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said Seconduns took N200 million from the office of then National Security Adviser (NSA) on Feb. 19, 2015.

Among those listed were PDP Financial Secretary, Bolaji Anani on Oct 2014, took N600 million from the office of then NSA; party’s National Publicity Secretary, Olisah Metuh, is on trial for collecting N1.4 billion from the office of then NSA; Dr. Raymond Dokpesi, Chairman of DAAR Communications is also on trial, for allegedly taking N2.1 billion also from the office of the NSA; Dudafa Waripamo-Owei, former SSA to President Goodluck Jonathan, is also on trial over N830 million kept in accounts of four different companies; a Federal High Court recently ruled that the former President Jonathan’s cousin Robert Azibaola had a case to answer for collecting 40 million dollars from the office of then NSA

The House of Representatives Deputy Majority leader and member representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency, Hon. Buba Jibril is dead. Hon. Jibril, a three time member of the House died at the age of 58. One of his political associates, Mr. Amuda Dan Sulaiman who confirmed the incident to newsmen said he died in the early hours of Friday.

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, to ensure that vote buying at polling units is stopped during elections.

Professor Yakubu made the appeal yesterday when the IGP paid a routine visit to the commission’s headquarters in Abuja, in preparation for Ekiti and Osun States governorship polls as well as 2019 general elections.

The INEC chairman, who expressed worry over the development in recent elections, said vote buying was a malpractice and violation of the Electoral Act.
