President Muhammadu Buhari has attributed the continued killings by suspected herdsmen across the country to illiteracy. The President stated this on Thursday during his two-day state visit to Bauchi State, where he inaugurated the 261 Nigerian Air Force Referral Hospital, some roads and five tractors and some farm implements.

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has asked the Nigerian Senate not to trivialize or personalize the criminal offences brought against its member, Senator Dino Melaye. The IGP in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by the Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Ibrahim also explained the reason why his boss failed to appear before the senate on Thursday following an earlier invitation extended to him.

The National Economic Council (NEC) has agreed to stop the movement of herdsmen in the country, starting with Benue, Taraba, Adamawa, Kaduna and Plateau.

At a meeting presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on Thursday, the council approved the creation of ranches across the country.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has called for the regulation of campaign finance of political parties in the country.

Mr Paul Atser, INEC Administrative Secretary in Kwara made the call on Wednesday at the opening of a two-day training workshop on Campaign Finance Tracking and Reporting for INEC staff.

The zonal workshop was attended by INEC staff in North Central states comprising Niger, Nasarawa, Benue, Plateau, Kogi, Kwara and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the timetable for the forthcoming governorship election which is slated to hold on September 22, 2018.

INEC has disclosed that the notice of the election will be on June 23, 2018, while commencement of public campaign will be slated for June 24.

Party primaries including resolution of disputes arising from the primaries would be between June 24 and July 23, 2018.
