Ahead 2023: PDP Meet To Strategize On Zoning of Presidency

Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will today meet in Port Harcourt, Rivers state capital to strategize ahead of the 2023 general elections. Contained in a statement issued by the party’s Director-General of the Governors Forum, Cyril Maduabum on Sunday, the meeting is aimed at consolidating on how to rescue and rebuild the country in the 2023 general poll. The meeting will also review the current state of the nation and the readiness of the main opposition party to provide the needed leadership in the country in this trying time, the Director-General added.


The statement revealed that all the PDP Governors are expected to grace the occasion which was coming after a gala night hosted by the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike. 

The statement further disclosed that “The PDP governors are working in concert and consultations with other party leaders, particularly the Ayu-led National Executive Committee of the PDP, to craft a credible process and program for Nigeria’s positive rebirth,” 

Although, vigil360 learned that part of the agenda of the meeting is on how to zone the party’s presidential ticket to the region that holds the critical stake at this material time in the election process. 

A source revealed that the party may be zeroing at a consensus presidential candidate where possible. 

Accordingly, the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, and some of the colleagues had already arrived in Port Harcourt since last night for the meeting.
