Festus Keyamo, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, has come out against former Presidents, Ibrahim Babangida and Olusegun Obasanjo for advising President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek reelection in 2019. The fiery brand lawyer has described the statements credited to former Presidents asking President Muhammadu Buahri not to seek reelection as “hypocrisy at its best”.
Keyamo who took to his twitter handle @fkeyamo Wednesday to express his views on the matter, also accused both former leaders as being “too morally deficient to provide any political compass for this nation again.”
He said: “Ironically, these expired leaders, IBB and OBJ, used all the tricks in the books to illegally extend their tenures in office until they were chased away by Nigerians, yet they’re the ones now advising Buhari to give up his legal right to seek re-election. It’s hypocrisy at its best.”
Accusing Obasanjo as a “control freak on an endless search for a puppet-like president since the collapse of his 3rd-term agenda”, Keyamo described his statement as a “clever means to launch a political party over which he would preside since the APC and PDP have grown beyond his control.”
He said: “The message we can take from the letters of OBJ and IBB is the urgent need for government to address problems plaguing Nigeria. But the message we must reject with the messengers is their roadmap on d way forward as they’re too morally deficient to provide any political compass for this nation again.”
