The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has distanced himself from a political group known as 'Osinbajo Volunteers', seeking his election as president in 2019 general election. The Vice President made his position known in a tweet by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity Laolu Akande. He called on Nigerians to disregard the group as it has nothing to do with the Vice President.
“Please disregard this website created by faceless people for mischievous purposes. It has absolutely nothing to do with the vice president.”
The group had surface recently attempting to canvas support for the Vice President ahead of the 2019 general elections. The group claimed that even though it was yet to meet Osinbajo there was general satisfaction and believe that he can turn the country around.
"Note that Osinbajo did not endorse this volunteer group. We have never met him. We are strong believers in the fact that he is the right ruler for Nigeria and must create a people’s volunteer base for him.”
