The Chief Executive Officer of Capital Oil and Gas, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah who contested the Anambra state gubernatorial primaries on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said he had sued the party over alleged irregularities in the conduct of the exercise that produced Oseloka Obaze as the winner. The aggrieved Ubah stated this in Awka while addressing the panel that conducted the exercise.
Ubah alleged that the delegate list used for the conduct of the primaries was doctored and entirely different from the one produced after a duly conducted delegate elections monitored by officials of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He said the decision of the party to give the aspirants the delegate list only two days to the primaries may have been intended to rig the exercise in favor of a particular candidate.
According to him "the delegate list for this election was given to us just two days ago. I made complain to the governor who is the head of the panel on Saturday. Other parties like APC in Anambra state, their aspirants knew the list close to four weeks before the election so that we can have enough time to campaign to the delegates."
He added that his plea was not heeded; stressing that he also drew the attention of the panel to secrecy by the Caretaker Committee of the party, forcing some of the to lose confidence in the Committee.
He concluded that he had already approached a court to seek redress.
Recall that on Monday, the PDP held its primaries to produce a candidate that will contest the Anambra state governorship elections slated for November 2017. After the exercise, Oseloka Obaze emerged winner to the consternation of other aspirants. Some of the aspirants including Senator Stella Oduah boycotted the exercise.
